The Courts and Tribunals Judiciary has published general guidance to ensure consistency in the provision of electronic bundles (e-bundles) for court hearings (but not tribunal hearings) to promote efficient preparation and management of hearings. This guidance replaces previous guidance published in May 2020.
The guidance includes the following information:
- e-bundles should be in pdf format with the default view at 100% and should have bookmarks for sections
- pages must use computer-generated numbering, which should start at page one (whether or not that is part of an index) and the numbering must follow sequentially to the last page of the bundle
- pages in landscape should appear in that orientation
- each entry in the index must be hyperlinked to the indexed document
- pages containing typed text must be subject to optical character recognition if they have not been created directly as electronic text documents to facilitate searching
- it is generally better to have a single hearing e-bundle and a separate single authorities e-bundle rather than multiple bundles
- the resolution of the bundle should not be greater than 300 dpi
It also details guidance on delivering/uploading e-bundles, including filenames and email format, and provides advice where unrepresented litigants are involved.
